Position Overview of Senior Accountant:
A dynamic construction and engineering company in Centennial is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to join its growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys rolling up their sleeves, and has strong experience in construction accounting, job costing, and financial reporting.
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in month-end close, project accounting, and supporting leadership with accurate, timely financial information across multiple projects and entities.
Key Responsibilities of Senior Accountant:
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion accounting
- Oversee job costing, project tracking, and margin analysis
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain general ledger integrity
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow projections
- Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to review project performance
- Assist with audits, tax preparation, and compliance reporting
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Mentor junior accounting staff as needed
Qualifications for Senior Accountant:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4+ years of accounting experience, with construction or engineering industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
