** The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The expected starting pay for this position is $93,566.00 - $/year, based on experience and education.

** The Department of Housing Stability (HOST) was established by Executive Order 145 in the fall of 2019 to lead the development and implementation of policies and investments across the housing continuum—from individuals experiencing homelessness to those seeking new housing opportunities or working to remain stably housed. HOST drives the City and County of Denver’s efforts to promote housing stability, expand housing opportunities, and resolve homelessness, both locally and through regional partnerships.
As a convener, HOST brings together public, private, and nonprofit partners to advance long-term, collaborative solutions across the housing spectrum.
** What You’ll Do
** The Accounting Manager reports through our Operations Division as part of our Finance team. As part of the implementation of HOST’s vision of a healthy, housed, and connected Denver, our Accounting Manager will manage the work of a team of approximately 3-5 financial professionals that provide financial management of HOST funds including auditing complex records, reconciling discrepancies, correcting variances, tracking and verifying expenditures, and ensuring accuracy of financial transactions.
The Accounting Manager position will be responsible for:
* ** Supervise accounting staff
** engaged in daily accounting functions and activities in support of business operations and administration in the areas of financial transactions, contract accounts, and purchasing activities. Serve as a working supervisor by directly performing complex accounting functions, maintaining an individual workload, and providing technical expertise and guidance to staff.
* ** Ensure accounting transactions are performed, reconciled, recorded, and reported
** within established policies, procedures, and fiscal rules.
* ** Provide
* *** leadership, direction, and technical guidance
** to accounting staff. Assign and distribute work based on workload demands; review completed work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and fiscal requirements.
* ** Assist employees with
**** complex, sensitive, or unusual accounting issues
** and serves as a resource for resolving technical questions.
