Tax Solution Representative

Job Overview

Join the Colorado Department of Revenue as a Tax Examiner I in the Call Center. This role supports over 200,000 customers each year by providing tax assistance, information, and determination of refunds or assessments in a customer‑friendly environment.

• Educate inbound callers on specific and ambiguous tax issues related to Colorado statutes, policies, and procedures.
• Analyze and understand complex tax account issues and communicate them clearly to callers.
• Assist callers in using department websites, tax software or service portals to file returns, submit payments, and access tax information.
• Learn and adapt to changes in statutes, policies and procedures and facilitate taxpayer account issue resolution in accordance with state laws.
• Participate in up to four months of onsite orientation and training to become a Tax Examiner.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum two (2) years of customer service experience, with at least six (6) months in accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, or tax administration.
• Prior experience in bookkeeping, technical accounting, tax administration, or business economics is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and experience in a call center is preferred.
• State law experience with Gen Tax and state, county or municipal taxes highly desirable.

• Must be a resident of Colorado at the time of application.
• Must complete a background investigation, reference check, and pre‑employment tax compliance review.
• Will be required to attend a three‑week training period in Denver (1351 5th St, Denver, CO) followed by work‑from‑home with occasional travel as needed.
