The Staff Accountant, Corporate Accounting will serve as a member of an extremely collaborative Accounting and Finance team. This is a highly engaged and motivated team, adept at anticipating and adjusting to shifting priorities in a complex environment, working in partnership toward the overall success of the team and organization.
This position will play an important role in the overall Pursuit Finance and Accounting organization by helping to prepare timely and accurate financial reporting and ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures.
This is a regular full‑time, salaried role based in our Denver office with a base salary range of $80,000 - $88,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Flex time off is available within established guidelines, and a comprehensive benefits package is provided.
Responsibilities- Assist in overseeing the monthly lease accounting process, including maintaining the lease accounting system with new and modification information, collaborating with finance and operations to ensure completeness and accuracy of population, journal entry preparation, and assistance with budgeting.
- Assist in overseeing the monthly fixed asset accounting process, including entering new fixed assets into the accounting system, running depreciation routines, ad hoc variance analysis, capitalized interest analysis, journal entry preparation, and assistance with budgeting.
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure financial statement accuracy.
- Work in partnership with external audit firms on annual audits and financial statements.
- Work to ensure that the documented corporate control environment is consistently applied.
- Prepare financial statements and reports to non‑controlling interest partners in various entities within the Pursuit framework, including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, and overall cash analysis and position.
- Complete accounting assignments in an environment of intellectual curiosity, problem solving, accuracy, and efficiency. Promote the Pursuit culture by maintaining a high degree of team member engagement.
- Develop positive and collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders.
- Other project work as required, including collaborative efforts with process development, integration of acquisitions, and other projects as they arise with a growing, dynamic organization.
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; work toward a higher degree or CPA certification is a strong asset.
- 5 years’ minimum experience in accounting preferred, including experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations and accountability over financial data.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Costar lease accounting system experience is a plus.
- D365 ERP system experience is a plus.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience building relationships and working on teams. Collaborative approach to partnering with internal partners and working toward common goals while fostering an overall environment of teamwork and participation.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to take over a task or project with minimal direction and move it forward – a self‑starter with confidence to understand and build upon a request.
- A natural enthusiasm for the role, desire to build and improve, and ability to understand the "why" of the work.
