CV Resources is partnering with a well-established and growing real estate investment and development firm to identify a Controller who will play a key leadership role within the corporate accounting team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. The Controller will oversee corporate accounting operations, financial reporting, cash management, and internal controls while supporting investment management, registered investment advisor, real estate, and development entities. This individual will also serve as the internal expert on Yardi and help drive process improvements through technology and automation.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee full general ledger accounting for the company s corporate entities and special purpose entities (SPEs), including journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements for management, along with quarterly and annual financial statements for external stakeholders.
- Lead annual audits, including preparation of financial statements and footnotes, while serving as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Manage daily cash operations, including forecasting, liquidity planning, and weekly cash analysis.
- Oversee accounts payable, expense reimbursements, chargeback processes, and fixed asset accounting.
- Support regulatory compliance, due diligence requests, and annual reporting requirements for the company s registered investment advisor operations.
- Coordinate the accounting aspects of new real estate acquisitions and development projects, including funding wires, reviewing settlement statements, tracking investor equity contributions, and partnering with Investor Relations.
- Provide trial balances and supporting documentation for annual tax return preparation.
- Manage quarterly and periodic investor distributions for special purpose entities, including coordination with Asset Management, distribution processing, payment execution, and investor support.
- Coordinate annual property tax filings.
- Serve as the primary administrator for the Yardi ERP system, including period-end close management, vendor and entity setup, chart of accounts maintenance, reporting, and system upgrades.
- Review and reconcile post-sale balance sheets for special purpose entities to ensure proper closeout of transactions.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
- Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle general ledger accounting.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Experience managing month-end close, financial reporting, and annual audits.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Collaborative mindset with a desire to improve processes and implement efficiencies.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Yardi is highly preferred.
- Experience in investment management, fund accounting, commercial real estate, or real estate development is strongly preferred.
