About the Role

Hill Street Realty is hiring a Property Accountant to join our accounting team, working directly alongside our Senior Property Accountant on a real portfolio of multifamily properties. This isn't a role where you're boxed into one narrow task — as a boutique owner-operator, we give our accounting team hands-on exposure to the full accounting cycle, direct mentorship, and visibility with property management leadership from day one.

If you're looking to build real property accounting experience rather than just clear a queue, this is that seat.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with monthly close processes, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned properties
  • Support preparation of monthly property financial statements under the guidance of the Senior Property Accountant
  • Help review property-level income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports, and research variances
  • Coordinate with property management teams to gather accurate revenue and expense information for month-end close
  • Process and review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activity for assigned properties
  • Assist with compiling documentation for annual audits, lender reporting, and other external reporting requests
  • Support budget preparation, forecasts, and reforecasts by compiling and organizing property-level data
  • Help maintain accurate accounting records and documentation in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
  • At least 1 year of property accounting experience within the multifamily apartment industry
  • Experience working in a multi-entity environment is a plus
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and property-level financial reporting
  • Proficiency with property management and accounting systems (Entrata experience is a plus)
  • Strong attention to detail, with solid organizational and time management skills
  • A collaborative mindset and openness to direction and mentorship from senior accounting staff
Benefits

We offer a competitive benefits package, which may include medical, dental, and vision insurance; retirement savings options; paid time off and paid sick leave in accordance with Colorado law; paid holidays; and additional wellness, flexibility, and professional development benefits. Eligibility and offerings may vary by role and employment status.

  • 401(k) with 4% match
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Health savings account
  • Disability insurance
  • Paid time off and paid sick leave in accordance with Colorado law
