High-Growth, Venture-Backed Technology Company | Significant Equity Opportunity Denver, CO | Hybrid | Base + Bonus + Equity
We are working with an extremely exciting AI technology company that is based in Denver, and who’s product is in the beginning stages of reshaping one of the biggest sectors of the US economy. The position comes with a strong base, bonus, and equity that could truly be life-changing.
They are searching for a Senior Accountant to join their team.
This is not a traditional Senior Accountant opportunity.
Our client's technology is already starting to fundamentally disrupt a massive sector of the U.S. economy—a market measured in the trillions that has historically relied on fragmented, outdated systems and processes.
The company has experienced tremendous growth, has institutional venture backing, and is now entering a critical stage of its evolution. The platform is built. The opportunity is enormous. And the company is assembling the team that can help take the business through its next stage of growth.
For the right accounting professional, this is an opportunity to get into a high-growth company while it is still early enough for your contribution—and your equity—to matter.
Why We're Excited About This SearchWe recruit accounting and finance professionals for a variety of companies, and this opportunity stands out.
Our client isn't looking for someone to simply inherit a close checklist and process journal entries.
They're looking for someone who wants to help build the finance organization of a company with significant ambitions.
The Senior Accountant will work directly with the Controller and become a key member of a lean finance team. You'll take meaningful ownership of the accounting operation while gaining exposure to areas that typically sit several levels above a traditional Senior Accountant position.
You'll be joining during the transition from early-stage accounting processes to a sophisticated, scalable, audit-ready finance organization.
That means you'll have an opportunity to build, improve, automate, and influence—not simply maintain.
The Equity OpportunityThis is one of the more compelling aspects of the opportunity.
The position includes equity ownership in the company.
As with any private-company equity, there are no guarantees regarding its future value. But this venture-backed company is pursuing a very large market opportunity, the leadership has a history of successful exits, and the people joining during this stage have an opportunity to participate financially in the value they help create.
If the company delivers on its vision, the equity component could become extremely meaningful.
For someone evaluating their next career move, we believe that's an important distinction:
You're not simply being recruited for another accounting job. You're being offered an opportunity to become an owner in the business you're helping build.
The RoleThe Senior Accountant will partner closely with the Controller and take significant ownership of the day-to-day accounting function.
The Controller needs someone they can trust to keep the financial engine running accurately and on schedule while helping improve the infrastructure underneath it.
You'll have responsibility across:
Month-End Close & General Ledger- Drive the monthly close process and close checklist to completion.
- Prepare recurring, accrual, and adjusting journal entries.
- Own accounting across cash, prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, payroll, and intercompany activity.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, AR, AP, accrued liabilities, and deferred revenue.
- Independently investigate and resolve reconciling items.
- Prepare month-over-month and budget-to-actual variance analyses.
- Draft financial commentary for Controller review.
- Support multi-state sales and use tax filings.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Respond to auditor requests.
- Assist with 1099s and W-2 reconciliations.
- Support property tax and other year-end filings.
This is where the opportunity becomes especially interesting.
Our client doesn't want someone who simply asks, “How was this done last…
