Talent Woo is conducting a confidential search for an established commercial real estate organization seeking a Property Accountant to join its Denver-area team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who understands the operational side of commercial real estate and enjoys taking ownership of their work. The ideal candidate has experience with multi-tenant retail or commercial properties
, understands CAM and tenant recoveries, and is comfortable working closely with property and asset management.
We're looking for someone who doesn't just process transactions. The right person will understand what's happening at the property level, recognize when something doesn't look right, ask good questions, and take responsibility for getting it resolved.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Manage day-to-day accounting activities for commercial real estate operations
- Handle accounts receivable, including tenant billings, cash receipts, deposits and account reconciliation
- Manage accounts payable, including invoice review, coding and weekly payment processing
- Prepare and review CAM and operating expense reconciliations
- Interpret lease provisions related to rent, recoveries, reimbursements and other tenant charges
- Maintain accurate tenant ledgers and investigate discrepancies
- Perform bank and cash reconciliations
- Prepare monthly financial reporting and supporting schedules
- Assist with annual operating budgets and monitor actual results against budget
- Research and explain budget variances
- Coordinate closely with property management, asset management and operations teams
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
- Identify issues proactively and follow them through to resolution
- Help improve accounting processes and controls as opportunities arise
- 3+ years of property accounting or closely related commercial real estate accounting experience
- Experience with retail, shopping center, mixed-use or other multi-tenant commercial properties
- Hands-on experience with CAM reconciliations and tenant recoveries
- Strong AP and AR knowledge
- Experience reading leases and translating lease provisions into tenant charges
- Experience preparing or reviewing property-level P&Ls and variance reports
- Experience with Yardi strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered
