Staff Accountant

An established and growing organization is seeking a Staff Accountant on a contract basis to support critical accounting operations during a period of growth and system transformation. This Staff Accountant will play an integral role in month-end close activities, reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and audit support while helping maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for:

• Executing accurate and timely month-end close activities
• Preparing and recording accruals and journal entries
• Performing balance sheet and variance reconciliations
• Managing fixed asset accounting, including asset setup, depreciation, disposals, tracking, and monthly reconciliations
• Supporting audit requests and maintaining financial statement accuracy
• Assisting with accounts payable invoice coding and processing as needed
• Providing ad hoc accounting analysis and project support
• Collaborating across finance functions to ensure efficient and accurate reporting

Approximately:

• 50% of time dedicated to close activities, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting support during the month-end cycle
• 50% focused on fixed asset administration, project support, and accounts payable backup responsibilities

Successful candidates for the Staff Accountant role will possess:

• Minimum of two years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong reconciliation experience and attention to detail
• Solid fixed asset accounting knowledge and hands-on experience
• Understanding of accrual-based accounting principles
• Experience supporting month-end close processes
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Experience supporting multi-entity or property-related accounting environments
• Exposure to audits and financial reporting processes
• Experience working in a fast-paced, evolving business environment
