Position: Bingo-Raffle Assistant (Hybrid)

Position Overview

The Business and Licensing Division of the Colorado Department of State receives filings such as business and nonprofit registrations, trade names, secured liens, notary public applications, bingo and raffle reports, UCC filings, and charity registrations. It also processes durable medical equipment provider licenses, promotes availability of government data, processes fraudulent business filing complaints, and provides performing rights society information. The division channels most filings electronically and disseminates information via the department website.

This position focuses on the Bingo‑Raffle Unit, which supports and regulates the bingo and raffle sectors in Colorado. The unit carries out outreach, assistance, enforcement, and service improvement activities for licensees, hall owners, game managers, players, manufacturers, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop an understanding of all relevant laws, statutes, and rules surrounding Bingo‑Raffle programs to interpret and apply them for completion of duties.
  • Provide support in data analysis and entry for quarterly reports, bingo‑raffle licenses, games manager certificates, scanning verification, and filing.
  • Assist with Colorado Charitable Gaming Board meetings.
  • Process and verify completeness of license renewals and raffle ticket submissions.
  • Make eligibility determinations on applications and renewals.
  • Process payments, answer routine calls, and perform other duties as assigned, including potential cross‑training opportunities in other units.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all confidential and personal identifying information, personnel information, and any other proprietary information while complying with all state and department policies regarding professional conduct.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in an administrative or office support role that included data entry, reviewing information for accuracy, and providing customer service in an office environment; OR
  • A combination of education and relevant experience equaling two (2) years, with successful course credits from an accredited U.S. institution. Unofficial transcripts must be provided.

  • Previous state service related to the work.
  • Professional experience evaluating applications, records, or documents to determine eligibility.
  • Initiative and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain laws and rules to a diverse audience.
  • Team‑driven project and event experience.
  • Professional customer service in person, phone, or email.
  • Data entry experience with program or database (appointments, contracts, employee records).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Professional email, letter, report, and form creation.
  • Reviewing and comparing data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Analytical thinking, communication skills, accuracy, customer service, technical skills, prioritization, detail orientation, consistency, dependability, diverse and inclusive perspective.
Conditions of Employment
  • May be required to travel for professional development or training opportunities.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • Must be a Colorado resident at the time of application.
