The University of Denver Lamont School of Music and Theatre is committed to providing exceptional artistic education and meaningful experiential learning opportunities that prepare students for successful and evolving careers in the performing arts.

The Lamont Office of Admission seeks an Admission Ambassador who will support recruitment, audition, admissions, and prospective student engagement efforts for both music and theatre programs. Admission Assistants help ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for prospective students and families while supporting the daily operations of the office.

Essential Functions include:

  • Data entry and maintaining applicant records
  • Responding to email inquiries from prospective students and families
  • Sending correspondence as instructed by admission staff
  • Greeting faculty, staff, current students, prospective students, and guests in a professional and welcoming manner
  • Filing and organizing admissions documents and student records
  • Leading informed tours of the Newman Center for the Performing Arts for prospective students and guests
  • Providing support during audition days, interviews, campus visit events, and recruitment programs
  • Assisting with event preparation, set-up, and day-of logistics for admission-related activities
  • Providing administrative support as requested by office staff
  • Transporting packages, printed materials, or event supplies as needed
  • Assisting with social media content creation and digital engagement efforts
  • Supporting special projects related to student recruitment and outreach
  • Other duties as assigned
Position Expectations

Lamont Admission Ambassadors are expected to support the office by:

  • Arriving on time and remaining for the entirety of scheduled shifts
  • Completing assigned responsibilities accurately and efficiently
  • Following office procedures, professional expectations, and communication protocols
  • Representing Lamont and the University professionally when interacting with prospective students, families, faculty, and guests

This is a part-time position expected to last through the academic year.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of email platforms and word processing software
  • General familiarity with performing arts environments, including music and/or theatre programs
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted
  • Comfort interacting with visitors and providing customer service in a professional environment
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to changing priorities
Required Qualifications
  • Applicants must be a music or theatre major at the University of Denver
  • Full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at the University of Denver
Preferred Qualifications
  • Friendly and professional interpersonal skills when interacting with guests and visitors
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Interest in higher education, admissions, communications, or performing arts administration
  • Self-starter who can recognize and respond to the operational needs of a busy office environment

The Lamont Office of Admission is a fast-paced and collaborative environment that regularly welcomes faculty, staff, students, prospective students, and families. This position works in a shared, open-concept office space with frequent in-person interaction and moderate daily activity levels.

Physical Activities

This position occasionally requires lifting and transporting materials weighing approximately 15–20 pounds. Admission Assistants will support recruitment and audition events, which may include moving materials throughout the building, event setup, preparing hospitality areas, and assisting with day-of logistics.

Hours

Approximately 10 hours per week

The Lamont Office of Admission operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The office is closed daily from 12:0 0 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Work schedules will be arranged around the student employee’s academic schedule.
