Operators perform a variety of physical tasks, including operating the roller and other heavy equipment and machinery for applying asphalt products as defined by each job/project.
Looking for Roller, Skid Steer, Paver, and Milling Operators. Please list all equipment experience in your application/resume.
Responsibilities- Operate the roller and other heavy equipment for paving projects/jobs.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain equipment and machinery.
- Coordinate and work with contractors, sub-contractors and vendors to complete job.
- Serve as front-line Company representative and provide excellent service to the customer and the public.
- Work on the ground as needed.
- Work quickly, productively and safely to meet production goals as outlined by the Foreman, Superintendent and/or Production Manager.
- Follow direction of the Foreman and/or Superintendent with regards to daily production schedule and activities.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures and actively participate in job-site and safety meetings and all Company related training.
- Work with Foreman or Crew Leader to ensure the job-site is safe and traffic is controlled prior to commencing work.
- Communicate effectively with other equipment operators, truck drivers and general laborers.
- Report problems and malfunctioning equipment and/or machinery to supervisor and/or shop personnel.
- May set up and tear down equipment and maintain a clean job site.
- Use equipment and hand tools as needed (rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, etc.).
- Perform other general laborer work as needed and any duties assigned.
- This position is safety-sensitive and is subject to the company's drug and alcohol policy and OHSA regulations.

- Must be able to operate vehicles and trailers safely, in compliance with traffic laws.
- Must operate equipment, machinery and tools in safety-compliant ways.
- Must be able to work outside for long periods in all weather; may be exposed to extremes of heat and cold.
- Must wear appropriate PPE in different situations.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and to climb, bend, stoop, kneel and lift overhead.
- Work may involve exposure to chemicals, vapors, pollutants, gases, dust, noise, moving vehicles or machines and uneven surfaces.
Education, Work Experience and Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Six months to one year related experience is preferred.
- Ability to speak, read and write English is preferred.
- Willingness to travel to any and all job sites, including staying away from home if necessary.
- Drivers:
Must meet FMCSA English proficiency requirements under 49 CFR §391.11(b)(2), including the ability to read and speak English, understand highway signs, respond to official inquiries, and make required entries on reports and records. All 10K-CMV and CDL drivers will be required to complete and pass an English proficiency assessment.
- A current driver's license is preferred.
- Must have a clean motor-vehicle record if operating a Company vehicle.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check.
