Position(s) Overview
Location:
Colorado – positions will be based throughout our many Southeast Colorado locations.
This is an entry‑level internship/trainee position designed to help candidates gain experience in the construction field. Regular visits to the field may be required to examine projects and/or test materials. The position involves supporting and working under a manager to prepare for a career in the industry. Types of internships may include, but are not limited to:
- Project Management
- Safety
- Construction Technology
- Purchasing
- Surveying
- Management
- Quality Control
- Other
Key Responsibilities (Essential duties and functions will vary depending on internship type)
- Learn how to find, bid and build heavy construction projects
- Set up contracts and subcontract agreements
- Work with and assist estimators, project managers and construction crew foremen
- Spend time with foremen learning how to prepare and set up a job
- Learn about construction equipment – various uses and required skills
- Work with Operations Manager/accounting on monthly projections
- Understand job cost
- Assist with project take‑offs and tracking
- Estimating training through Bid2
Win - Set up users in Infield, including assigning departmental access
- Other duties as assigned per supervisor
- Train other Infield users, including managers and approvers, on how to utilize the program for job management
- Support employees in safely providing the preferred source to customers
- Knowledge of MSHA/OSHA standards
- Conduct on‑site safety inspections

- Ability to follow verbal and written instruction

- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
- Currently enrolled or recent graduate of a related field degree program
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and criminal background check
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute, rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of database software
- Must have a current and valid driver’s license
