Job Summary
Seeking an experiencedConstruction Materials Field Technicianto support construction projects throughout theDenver, Coloradoarea. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys working outdoors, performing field testing, and ensuring construction materials meet project specifications and quality standards.
Compensation:$24-32/hour (DOE)
Location:Denver, Colorado
FLSA Exemption:Non-Exempt
Schedule:Full-time; hours may vary based on project demands
Perform routine field testing of construction materials to verify compliance with project plans and specifications
Conduct field tests on materials including:
Fresh concrete (slump, air, temperature, cylinders)
Soil compaction and density testing
Aggregate sampling and observation
Accurately document test results and complete daily reports and data sheets
Communicate professionally with contractors, project managers, inspectors, and internal teams
Maintain and safely operate testing equipment in accordance with company procedures
Support additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor based on project needs
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum2+ years of construction materials testing experiencein the field
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and clean MVR
Ability to lift up to50 lbsand work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate reporting
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic computer reporting tools
Ability to pass a drug screening and background check
Experience working onCDOT transportation or public infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO field testing procedures
Additional certifications beyond minimum requirements
Positive attitude, strong initiative, and customer-service mindset
Desire to grow into advanced testing, inspection, or leadership roles
Required or ability to obtain shortly after hire:
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
WAQTC In-Place Density Certification(commonly required for Colorado/CDOT projects)
Preferred:
WAQTC Embankment & Base
ACI Strength Testing Technician
NICET Construction Materials Testing (Soils, Concrete, or Asphalt Level I or II)
Nuclear Gauge Safety / Radiation Safety Training
Will provide financial assistance for certifications, renewals, PDHs, and continuing education.
