Exhibition Graphics Specialist, Full-Time (Non-Exempt) Why Join Us?

As an Exhibition Graphics Specialist, you will manage and coordinate all graphic design related activities including oversight of contractors, vendors, scheduling, in-gallery graphic standards, and management of graphics installations. You will work closely with the Exhibitions planning team, members of the Learning and Engagement (L&E) team, Curatorial, along with contract exhibition and graphic designers to plan and implement the graphic design identity for all in-gallery and programmed spaces.

Schedule:

Full-time, Monday – Friday, regular business hours.

Pay Range:

$23.20 - $28.90 per hour based on experience.

What You’ll Do
  • Works closely with the exhibition planning team to identify, coordinate and schedule graphic designers for exhibitions, rotations, and related L&E programs.
  • Designs and develops object labels for production as needed.
  • Acts as liaison to production vendors for all exhibition and rotation graphic needs and assists the Exhibitions Department in sourcing vendors for additional specialty design items and services.
  • Drafts and manages contracts for all contract graphic designers and other contractors as needed.
  • Works with Project Managers, cross-department stakeholders and designers to evolve and maintain institutional graphic design standards for all in-gallery and programmed spaces and communicates standards with all design contractors.
  • Manages the phased editing, proof-reading and translation process for all exhibition interpretive materials.
  • Develops project budgets and estimates for graphics production and installation.
  • Generates POs, and processes, tracks and reconciles invoices related to graphics production.
  • Maintains graphic design archive files for all projects and manages in-house design materials inventories.
  • Schedules and manages graphics mockups for all exhibitions and rotations.
  • Occasionally manages rotations and/or small exhibition projects as time and schedule allows.
  • Has a strong understanding of environmental graphics and related principles, along with a keen eye for design and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Works with Associate Director of Exhibition Planning and Director of Registration and Traveling Exhibition Services to generate and track traveling exhibition materials for venues and exhibition partners.
  • Coordinates closely with the Development team on the installation of in-gallery donor signage.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Supporting DAM’s Racial Equity Roadmap initiatives through goal setting and applying a racial equity lens in daily work.
What We’re Looking For You might be a great fit if you have:
  • Minimum of two years' experience in design, exhibition planning, project management, or equivalent required.
  • Some graphic design experience and knowledge of graphic production, materials and processing required.
