Lecturer of Music Business

The University of Colorado Denver is seeking a lecturer of music business. This position is part-time and involves teaching one or two classes per semester (3-6 credit hours). The primary focus will be on inspiring and training the next generation of contemporary musicians. This can include instruction in music marketing, music publishing, music law, concert promotion and venue management, artist management, and music supervision and licensing.

Minimum qualifications include a BA/BS/BM in music or a related field or substitution of tested experience as exemplified by one or more of the following: experience working for a reputable record label or live production company, experience managing a reputable music artist, experience in marketing artists and/or music events, experience in music publishing, experience in working with or for a digital music service provider, or two years successful experience teaching at a major university or college in the same or similar program.

Preferred qualifications include a master's degree in music or related field and experience teaching music at the college level. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner, the ability to balance multiple projects and tasks while maintaining attention to detail, the ability to create equitable and positive experiences for all, the ability to establish work priorities, follow through, and meet established deadlines, strong judgment and critical thinking skills, the ability to authentically listen and communicate relevant information, anticipate problems, and offer suggestions for resolution, and the ability to demonstrate dedication to mentoring students to best realize their potential as artists in society.

The salary range for this position has been established at $5,371.19 per 3 credit course. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation and is not eligible for benefits.
