Job SummaryA Work Study Stagehand will assist the Performing Arts department in day-to-day operations within the department as well as assisting in production-based tasks for music recitals, theatrical productions, and other events. The purpose of this position is to give students valuable experience in an event production environment while mutually benefit ting the department in moving productions forward and staffing events of the department.
Duties & Responsibilities- Office Tasks
- Copying/Scanning Documents
- Printing copies, posters, and other documents sent from faculty/staff
- Replenishing office supply stock and communicating when stocks are low
- Maintaining the condition of the Studio Blackbox Theatre and King Center fifth floor common areas
- Assisting in technological tasks for faculty/staff (troubleshooting printers, projectors, etc)
- Hang posters for departmental events around campus and surrounding areas
- Design posters (occasional)
- Updating costume, flat, and prop inventories
- Folding programs for recitals
- Production Tasks
- Hanging, focusing, troubleshooting, and designing lights for events
- Audio set up, live event mixing, QLab operation
- Theatrical rigging
- Set carpentry, scenic painting
- House management for events
- Staffing for events (this is variable, definitely plays into Students' individual skills)
All CCD Work Study eligibility requirements must be met.
A general knowledge of/appreciation for theatre and music.
Preferred Qualifications- 6 months of theatre/stagehand/concert "roadie" experience (could be high school theatre/music program experience or professional)
- 6 months of customer service experience
- Graphic design experience (Adobe Photoshop, Canva, etc)
- Major in Theatre, Music, Record Arts preferred

Additional Information/BenefitsThis role will allow the student to gain valuable event/concert/theatrical production experience in a proper learning environment, and it will teach valuable skills in the paperwork side of theatre/music production that beginning artists typically don't experience. This position aims to teach personal responsibility, accountability, and time management skills, which are imperative in any career. The ACD-EDU Pathway-- Theatre, Music, Recording Arts, Graphic Design, Architecture, etc.
