Job LocationCU Denver Department of Film & Television/ This position can be flexible with some remote and some on-campus components.
PurposeSe Cor Memory Light is a feature-length film set in the late 1990s in Denver. The story follows eight-year-old Grace ( Kid ), a child with undiagnosed PTSD who runs away to confront her estranged, violent father. Along her journey, she finds an unexpected mentor in Lupe Cor , an elderly recluse whose handmade memory light acts as an emotional portal into the past.
Position DescriptionYou will design and mix the unique sonic landscape of the film, building a world that moves between grounded reality and the nostalgia-soaked memory worlds
Duties and Responsibilities- Create custom sound effects.
- Incorporate musical motifs and traditional songs performed by the characters Lupe and Lorenzo.
- Mix dialogue tracks for clarity and professional delivery standards.
- Foley recording, complex sound layering for magical realism, and professional mixing for festival-quality delivery
- Proficiency in Avid Pro Tools or Adobe Audition. Experience in field recording and sound editing for film.
- Prefer student whose primary career goal is to work in the field of sound recording/design.
5-10 hours (Flexible)(dependent on work-study award amount)
Preferred Work TimesFlexible. Must meet with faculty lead for at least one hour per week.
Length of EmploymentThis position is available for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, employment may continue at Professor Young discretion. Please reach out to florence.young with any questions about the position. If both mentor and mentee agree, students can apply to continue with EUR ! for a second year.
Offers for this position are contingent on a current work-study award.
- First complete FAFSA or CASFA and confirm work-study eligibility with the CU Denver Financial Aid office.
- Once confirmed, attach email from Financial Aid stating potential work-study eligibility.
- Following interview and position offers, the EUR ! Office will provide Work-study Authorization forms to confirm final work-study award amounts before formal offer letters.
