Events Supervisor, Part-Time (Non-exempt)

The purpose of this position is to ensure that events conducted within the Denver Art Museum are as successful and effective as possible by overseeing all operational aspects of museum-associated events and ensuring coordinated onsite execution flow.

This position reports to the Facility Manager of Event Execution, Custodial, and Sustainability.

Position type:
This position will be covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with AFSCME-CWU.Pay:
The hiring hourly range for the position is $21.00-$26.25 based on experience.

What You’ll Do:

Serves as the primary point of contact for internal museum events, and external approved events, through close cross-departmental coordination, and liaising with external vendors as required.

Act as primary point of contact for execution of internal events and external events (as required).Adhere to the museum’s customer service methodology and maintain outstanding client (internal and external) relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business when appropriate.

Responsible for the oversight of event support staff (custodial, facilities, etc.) and event partners during execution.

Serve as the primary point of contact with catering to manage event logistics, set-up, execution, and tear-down, clean up, etc.

Ensures museum events do not violate museum security and safety program mandates.

Coordinates with the on-duty security supervisor to ensure compliance with City of Denver and national life safety and fire codes, and common safety practices

Maintain effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, contractors, various representatives of public and private entities, vendors and the public.

Responsible for post event database administration and reporting within our Event Management Software (EMS) and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Liaise as required with all personnel and contractors executing event activities, which includes catering, AV, facilities, custodial, security, visitor services, gift shop, Learning & Engagement, and third-party contractors.

Interpret and implement museum policies and procedures.

Resolves problems and conflicts encountered by visitors, contractors, volunteers, and/or employees.

Adhere to attendance tracking standards and completes financial and/or ticketing transactions for clients as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking for Customer service experience required.

High level of organizational skills to maintain consistent and regular levels of interactions.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the willingness to interact effectively and diplomatically with a diverse group of people.

Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, and decision making in solving problems or meeting objectives.

Skill in enforcing rules and safety regulations, to include alcohol related requirements.

Ability to self-direct and work independently.

Ability to work on a flexible schedule based on the needs of the museum’s business.

Deadline driven with the ability to handle many tasks at one time.

Experience in a non-profit environment preferred.

Three to five years of customer service experience preferred.

Exceptional business acumen and professionalism under any circumstances.

High School Education or GED or Higher Required Training and

Certifications:

DAM Safety/Security/and Customer Service The completion of the in-house training curriculum.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL

ACTIVITIES:

May be called upon to handle emergency or crisis situations.

Subject to long irregular hours and called upon to stand/walk for long periods without a break.

Able to climb the building stairs, a minimum of 3 floors without stopping.

Demonstrate physical agility by bending over and picking up an object.
