this position exists to medically manage offenders with addiction related conditions. This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- performing and documenting detailed medical and physical examinations, to include substance use and psychiatric histories;
- ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests;
- appropriately schedule regular visits for these offenders according to their treatment needs;
- providing education on the seriousness of opioid use abuse and overdose;
- prescribing and adjusting buprenorphine mono and dual therapy, and naltrexone based on the clinical needs of the offender;
- assist in managing and maintaining the mat program;
- collaborate with the a and d mental health and medical clinicians to foster whole person treatment for those offenders within the mat program;
- collaborate with the a and d mental health administrators at headquarters to maintain accurate tracking and accountability of offenders within the mat program;
- report to and collaborate with the chief medical officer (cmo) to produce policy and administrative regulations as needed to establish an effective, efficient, and secure program for the benefit of the offenders;
- this position provides instruction, demonstration and training to other health care professionals, provides medical advice to other organizational units or health care specialties through consultation regarding patients with opioid use disorder;
- may be required to participate in restraining an offender primarily for medical reasons;
- this position may be required to work shifts and provide on-call and call back duties such as weekends, evening and night shifts, and holidays;
- may perform clinical research related to specific operations;

minimum qualifications- applicant must possess current, valid licensure as an advanced practice nurse / nurse practitioner from the colorado board of nursing or valid licensure as a physician assistant from the colorado medical board.
- applicant must possess full prescriptive authority (rxn) as issued by the state of colorado (dora) and the dea;
- applicant must have at least six (6) months of experience in addiction medicine with detailed knowledge in the prescribing of the medication assisted treatment formulary (this experience must be thoroughly detailed in the "work experience" section of the application).
