A Dental Hygienist is responsible for providing preventive oral care services to patients under the supervision of a licensed dentist. The role focuses on maintaining oral health by performing cleanings, educating patients on proper oral hygiene, and assisting in the prevention and treatment of oral diseases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar.
  • Conduct oral health assessments, including reviewing medical history and examining gums and teeth.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays as required.
  • Apply preventive treatments such as fluoride and sealants.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and preventive care.
  • Document patient treatment plans, clinical findings, and procedures accurately in dental records.
  • Assist dentists during procedures when required.
  • Ensure all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained according to infection control standards.
  • Monitor patient comfort and address concerns during dental procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with state dental regulations and clinic protocols.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
  • Active state license to practice as a Dental Hygienist.
  • Certification in CPR/BLS.
  • Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and infection control protocols.
  • Strong communication and patient education skills.
  • Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
  • Experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic dental record systems.
