Dental Assistant – Stout Street Health Center (On Call/PRN basis)

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Dental Director, dentists, and hygienists in the care and treatment of patients.
  • Support treatment procedures, including patient seating, medical history intake, radiology preparation, and instrument tray setup.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control protocols and sterilization procedures.
  • Keep a clean and orderly work environment, including disinfecting treatment rooms and disposing of contaminated waste per OSHA protocols.
  • Prepare dental materials (cements, amalgams, composites, impression materials), cast models, and dies.
  • Takes, develops, mounts, and labels dental radiographs (x‑rays).
  • Assist with laboratory case preparation, receiving, and handling of lab cases.
  • Collect and record patient medical and oral health histories; measure blood pressure and blood sugar when necessary.
  • Provide patient support and reassurance before, during, and after procedures, using calm voice tones and appropriate techniques.
  • Explain post‑procedure oral care instructions to patients.
  • Assist with front‑office duties: scheduling appointments, handling phone inquiries, verifying insurance, registering new patients, and managing chart filing.
  • Help patients complete registration packets and financial/benefits forms.
  • Arrange equipment during clinic opening/closing, including compressors, vacuum, dental chairs, water bottles, x‑ray developer, and fixer.
  • Record and retrieve dental records and treatment information accurately.
  • Respond to medical and dental emergencies, performing CPR if required.
  • Perform all duties within the scope of practice defined by Colorado law.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license (may be waived under certain circumstances).
  • High school graduation required.
  • Graduation from a federally accredited dental assisting program ( preferred)
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • 1+ years of experience as a dental assistant with patient care and front‑office duties preferred.
  • EDDA certification strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Compliance with all legal requirements and ethical standards.
