In the role of Landscape Designer, we’ll count on you to contribute to projects with supervision from a registered Landscape Architect, across a range of scales and project types.
Responsibilities- Work under the direction of a registered Landscape Architect to assist in the development of projects from concept design to construction documentation. Typical project types include parks, plazas and streetscapes as well as healthcare, education, science and technology campuses.
- Work across a variety of scales, thinking strategically about site systems while executing detailed design work.
- Investigate objectives and variables such as site analysis, building operation, vehicular and pedestrian traffic, site grading and storm drainage.
- Create conceptual and detailed drawings using 2D and 3D digital tools and free-hand drawing for design discussions with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Provide production support during concept, schematic design, design development, and construction document phases.
- Collaborate with architects, planners, engineers, and other disciplines to develop and advance design thinking, concepts, and studio culture.
- Support landscape and urban design projects and coordinate effectively with other team members.
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or Civil Engineering
- AutoCAD, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel experience
- Photoshop a plus
- Ability to prepare site plans and understand the principles of grading and drainage
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Active participation in our employee-owned culture is a must
- Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, LandFX, Revit, Rhino, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office; advanced 3D modeling; computational design and rendering tools (Grasshopper, Lumion, Enscape)
- 2–3 years of professional experience or internships as a landscape designer and urban designer
- Strong graphic communication skills, including digital rendering and hand sketching
- Demonstrated design sensibility, creativity, curiosity, iterative concept development, and clear visual storytelling across scales
- Strong interest in sustainable / regenerative design
- Experience with design phases from site analysis to construction documentation
- Understanding of technical landscape architecture terminology, construction materials and processes, grading and drainage, planting design
- Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to a positive studio culture
