Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design (HLB)Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design (HLB) is an internationally recognized design firm focused on architectural lighting for both interior and exterior environments. We are inspired by the artistry of light and its impact on the natural and architectural environment. We infuse our core values of artistry, legacy, curiosity, balance, and integrity into every project.
In our niche within HLB, our residential team specializes in high-end residential lighting design. From a project’s inception to the fine tuning at a project’s completion, we oversee our designs from start to finish. With over 1,000 projects under our belt, we have an incredibly diverse portfolio with projects that have graced the cover of national and international publications. As IALD lighting designers, we are free to specify the best products from any manufacturer.
Where some designers stamp out designs, we look at each new project as an opportunity to do something we’ve never done before. We are always pushing the envelope of design creativity, while ensuring that our designs are well balanced and tailored to the needs of each project.
The High–End Residential Lighting Designer will support the work of one or more team members and lead and assist in the lighting design process. This position is in our Denver, Colorado office.
In this position you will be involved in all aspects of lighting design. This will include but is not limited to participation in meetings, design presentations to clients, CAD drafting, site visits, assembling cut sheet packages, fixture specifications, phone and email coordination with design and construction teams and aiming of adjustable lights. We are looking for someone with enough residential lighting design experience to understand all aspects of design and specification, but not so much experience that you cannot adapt to our standards, philosophy, and procedures.
The ideal candidate will have good listening skills and should be able to take direction and run with it. We put a lot of effort into mentoring new designers. Only people who are passionate about lighting design and who are looking for a place to work for the long term should apply. Travel to Colorado mountain resort communities will be common while travel to out‑of‑state projects will vary depending upon the mix of our projects over time.
Although some weeks are filled with conventional workdays, our work hours can best be described as asymmetric. There are many times where our work hours extend beyond daylight hours. This position will be fun, challenging, constantly evolving and very rewarding.
