Position Description
The Project Architect is responsible for executing the project design intent, including developing all project deliverables and providing leadership in project production and execution. Plans, produces, coordinates, and leads the documentation of a large project or multiple projects of medium scope and complexity, and works under minimal supervision. Oversee a staff of architects, architectural interns, and interior designers working on the production of the documents.
The Project Architect is the primary Architect on a project and is responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating production assignments and running the consultant team. Duties involve exploration of subject areas, product research, key decisions on architectural details, coordination of building systems, oversight of project production, execution of scope, selection of items for investigation, oversight of construction phase services, and development of novel concepts and methods.
A Project Architect exhibits leadership both within OZ and outside of OZ to achieve project goals, and serves as the primary consultant coordinator, monitoring project document production and the construction phase support/oversite to ensure the project team and their consultants are working cohesively.
- Bachelor's of Architecture (5-year professional degree preferred)
- Master of Architecture or equivalent degree from an accredited program.
- Licensed architect with twelve (12) or more years of architectural experience, including five (5) years of experience as an Architect 3.
- Proficient with Revit modeling.
- The Project Architect has acquired the knowledge, experience and skills of the Architect 3.
- Maintain regular team communication (both internal and external) in concert with the project manager to monitor project status and anticipate challenges, review recent progress, and plan out next steps. The Project Architect must maintain effective working relationships with the client and all team members, managing expectations and communicating status.
- Coordinates the project workflow with the BIM manager, in-house team, and consultants to achieve coordinated files for each project milestone. Leverage the Revit standard templates to produce building models that can be used efficiently and effectively by the internal team, consultant team, contractor, and client. Ensure the model level of development is commensurate with the project goals and fee at each milestone submission.
- Lead team innovation, productivity, quality, efficiency, and growth on a regular basis, so that OZ excels in the marketplace and is well-positioned for future work.
- Project Architect directs the project progress and is able to anticipate what is needed to keep production on schedule. Coordinates with the PM on the project status as it relates to project milestones.
Ensures follow-through of stated design intent at all project scales. - Has a strong fundamental knowledge of regulatory and code requirements. Manages compliance risks with owner, design team, and regulatory authorities.
- Coordinates entitlements, zoning issues, permits, and required agency approvals.
- Ensures coordination of all drawings, specifications, third party specialty reviews and other deliverables.
- Has a solid understanding of LEED, Energy Star (etc.) and is able to integrate those requirements into the documentation and coordinate with the consultant team.
- Coordinates the interior design and consultants with the architectural design. Integrates building systems and fully details the building.
- Participates in construction budget conversations and provides thoughtful VE solutions
- Manages responses to all bid and negotiation‑phase issues, including all necessary coordination.
- Manages construction phase services in conformance with contractual requirements, including deliverables within applicable time frames.

- Salary: $105,000‑$115,000, depending on knowledge, skills, and experience.
