Oral Surgeon

Denver Health Medical Center in the heart of Downtown Denver, CO is recruiting for a Full Time Oral Surgeon to join our Oral Surgery Department as a clinician and core faculty member in our Oral Surgery Residency Program.

Denver Health is a 555-bed Level I Trauma Center, and one of the largest safety net teaching hospitals in the United States. Currently, 1 in 2 babies born in Denver are born at Denver Health.

Additionally, the institution has grown to include The Denver Department of Public Health, the Denver Paramedics, and 10 primary care sites located across the Denver Metro area. All told, the Denver Health system provides over one million ambulatory care encounters, 124,000 ER / Urgent Care visits, and 9,000 outpatient surgeries.

OMFS Program :

We are seeking an energetic and talented surgeon to join our faculty and be involved in our clinical practice and residency education.

Attendings in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Denver Health will have the opportunity to practice full scope hospital-based surgery. Our clinic is situated in the brand-new state-of-the-art Outpatient Medical Center. Attendings will receive an appointment at the University of Colorado commensurate with years of experience / achievement. The OMFS clinic is proud to be a federal qualified health center, and with that providers qualify for HRSA Loan Repayment Programs and qualify for PSLF.

Denver Health is home to a 4-year OMFS training program. We accept 2 trainees per year as well as 3 non-categorical interns. At the end of the program our trainees meet the core objectives of competency in the following clinical areas: oral and maxillofacial surgery, anesthesia, medicine, cardiology, pediatric medicine, emergency medicine, general surgery, neurosurgery, surgical intensive care, otolaryngology, and plastic surgery.

Ideal candidates for the OMFS attending position are those who care deeply about providing care to an underrepresented patient population, resident education, service and want to join a program dedicated to creating an environment where residents and faculty can grow and thrive.

Candidates considered for the position must be Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and must be able to secure a Colorado State Dental and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery License prior to their appointments.

Essential Functions :

• In office sedation and core dentoalveolar procedures
• Trauma call, including full face trauma and reconstruction
• Management of Odontogenic infections
• Resident training and didactics

Scope of Practice :

• Dentoalveolar, dental implants, pre-prosthetic surgery, management of odontogenic infection, benign mucosal lesions, salivary gland pathology, intrabony pathology, orthognathic surgery and TMJ Surgery
• Opportunity to build a cleft and craniofacial practice
• Opportunity for microvascular surgery including free-flaps for benign pathology and post-traumatic reconstruction

Education :

• Doctorate Degree

Licenses :

• Colorado Dental License with Anesthesia Permit
• ABOMS – Board Certification or Board Eligible
