Lecturer – Visual Arts Department, University of Colorado Denver – Anschutz Medical Campus

We value the ability to engage effectively with students, faculty and staff of diverse backgrounds and are seeking a committed individual to join our College of Arts & Media Visual Arts Department to teach in the area of Painting and Drawing. This position is part-time (≤50% effort) and will be filled on a semester‑by‑semester basis.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Painting and Drawing, from foundation level to advanced, using traditional and contemporary techniques.
  • Participate in faculty jury to evaluate portfolios of prospective Illustration students annually in the fall semester.
Support Received

This position reports to the Visual Arts Department and the area head of the Painting/Drawing program.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: $5,150 per 3-credit semester course. The salary range represents the university’s good faith estimate at the time of posting. The position is not eligible for overtime unless exempt. The university offers a full benefits package; information is available at Employee Services.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Broad knowledge of the history of art, modern, and contemporary art.
  • Ability to work independently.

Minimum Requirements

  • MFA degree in studio art.
  • Strong skills in teaching both objective/perceptual (perspective and figure drawing) and non-objective/conceptual problems.
  • Ability to teach and work with a diverse student body.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–3 years teaching experience at the college level.
  • Multidisciplinary arts practice.
