Starting salary for first year faculty without teaching experience is $58,000. Salary will be higher for teachers with experience and/or additional qualifications.

Accountability:
Reports to Grade Level Dean / Head of High School Division

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field (master’s degree preferred)
  • Teaching experience involving differentiated instruction preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
  • Understanding of neurodiverse learners and strengths-based education
  • Commitment to professional growth and collaborative teaching
Teaching Responsibilities

Instruction

  • Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
  • Plan and deliver effective, differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Collaborate with Deans, Division Heads, and Program Team to deliver the Denver Academy curriculum
  • Remain current with Denver Academy programs, curriculum, and instructional practices

Classroom Management & Administration

  • Communicate clearly and consistently with parents/families and caregivers
  • Participate in parent/family conferences as scheduled and as needed
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grade books, assessments, and student records
  • Supervise students before school, during lunch, and after school, as assigned

Professional Leadership

  • Model professionalism, respect, and accountability within the classroom and school community
  • Represent Denver Academy positively and model effective conflict resolution

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in committees, school events, professional development, and required training
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Denver Academy’s English & Literature program is scaffolded to support diverse learning profiles while building strong literacy, critical thinking, and self-advocacy skills. Literature courses emphasize reading, analysis, and vocabulary;
English courses focus on writing, composition, and rhetoric.

  • Focus:
    Reading, literary analysis, vocabulary, and thematic inquiry across genres and time periods.
  • Grade 9 – Foundations:
    Text structure, literary devices, and universal themes (identity, resilience, justice).
  • Grade 10 – Exploration:
    Character development, historical context, and diverse cultural perspectives.
  • Grade 11 – American Identity:
    Modernism and Postmodernism; philosophical and intertextual analysis.
  • Grade 12 – Capstone:
    Advanced thematic study, multimodal text analysis, Shakespeare performance, and independent research.
