* The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences is housed on the Auraria campus in the heart of Denver's commercial, cultural, and recreational district. Its location in downtown Denver attracts a diverse population, comprising both traditional and non-traditional students. This posting is a pool for continuous faculty hires.

The Department of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences has an opening for a temporary, non-tenure track, part-time lecturer to teach mathematics and statistics courses. The appointment is for one semester, with the possibility of renewal for future semesters.

Lecturer

What you will do:

* Design and Deliver courses.

* Deliver lectures, seminars, and tutorials.

* Design and deliver assessments, such as exams, assignments, and reports.

* Collaborating with other lecturers, faculty and course coordinators to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

* Master's degree

* A Master's degree in mathematical sciences from an accredited university; OR

* A master's degree in any area and 18 credit hours of graduate-level course work in mathematical sciences.

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

* A record of successful teaching at the secondary or college level.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Ability to communicate Effectively, both in Writing and orally.

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department employees.

* Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to teach a diverse student body.

* Ability to develop a clear syllabus outlining learning outcomes, policies, and assessments for the class.

* Commitment to applying rules in a consistent manner

* Ability to present in a classroom in an engaging way.

* Ability to work effectively with students on a 1-to-1 basis.

* Ability to provide clear feedback on student written work.

* Flexibility and empathy in adapting to student circumstances.

Conditions of Employment

* Most courses offered by the department are delivered in person, and the successful candidate will be required to teach on campus. While there may be occasional opportunities to teach hybrid or online courses, these are dependent on departmental course availability and scheduling needs. Remote or hybrid teaching is not guaranteed and will be determined by the assigned course mode. Candidates should be prepared for a primarily in-person teaching role.
