About the Department

MSU Denver Department of Social Work prides itself on a richly talented faculty comprised of teacher-scholars who are highly dedicated to support undergraduate and graduate students in growing as social work scholars, practitioners, and leaders in the multitude of settings. MSU Denver faculty have expertise in culturally responsive practice that is relationally based. We are actively interrogating and revising our curriculum to reflect anti-oppressive practices while educating our students for the provision of effective social work services with diverse communities in micro, mezzo and macro settings serving vulnerable and underserved populations.

We work to actively to engage in anti-racist practices in all aspects of our programming; faculty members are encouraged to actively engage in our aspirations to dismantle systems of oppression. While we seek demonstrated ability and experience teaching social work theory, practice, and/or research related courses, priority will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to MSU Denver's priority of serving underrepresented communities.

MSU Denver's Department of Social Work's has an undergraduate and graduate program in Social Work. Our mission is to prepare social workers to engage in skillful, ethical, justice-oriented, and effective practice in their communities. We accomplish this by:

* Educating and training students to work with individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities, including those who are members of historically excluded populations

* Building community centered and strategic partnerships with organizations, co-creating relationship-centered learning and working environments to foster growth and collaboration

* Utilizing the NASW Code of Ethics to inform teaching and practice, while adapting to changes in the field and world, drawing from a vast knowledge base informed by multiple perspectives

Position Summary

The Department of Social Work at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for affiliate faculty teaching positions. We are seeking part-time, Social Work Affiliate Instructors in all content areas across the curriculum as they relate to Social Work. All affiliate faculty in the department of social work will work with a Lead Faculty and participate in a content teaching team.

When affiliate faculty are needed, they should expect to teach one to two courses each semester, the maximum any Affiliate Faculty can teach is three courses per semester.
