Position Details

Position: SpEd Teacher – 1 available spot

Salary: $60,000–$80,000 based on experience. Potential Sign‑On Bonus

Hours: Mon‑Fri 8:00‑16:00

Location: Laradon – 5100 Lincoln St., Denver, CO 80216

Required: Current Colorado Department of Education License in Special Education

The Special Education Teacher will provide special education, pre‑vocational and daily living training to dually diagnosed adolescents receiving services in Laradon’s School.

Typical Day
  • Promote a learning environment in which all students thrive; classroom instruction is tailored to students’ strengths and needs and prepares them for their next transition.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be physically present at the school to perform job functions.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Drive students as necessary for program needs.
  • Provide direct supervision and leadership for classroom paraprofessionals.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals to meet the needs of individual students across learning environments.
  • Complete required documentation and maintain records.
  • Actively engage parents, guardians, and community agencies in the IEP process.
  • Develop and maintain data collection systems for IEP goals. Delegate data collection to paraprofessionals and service providers as needed.
  • Serve as special education case manager, leading the multidisciplinary IEP process, facilitating IEP meetings, and meeting required timelines.
  • Provide specialized instruction services based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in both group and individual settings that include skill acquisition plans to teach functional skills.
What You Need to Know
  • Start Date: ASAP – Upcoming Orientation Weeks: 5/9, 5/19, 6/2
  • Compensation: Salary ranges $60k–$80k; actual offer may vary based on experience, education, and skill level.
  • Safety Care: All employees provide physical behavior support which includes physical management (training provided on hire) and may involve aggressive or non‑compliant behavior from special needs students.
  • 100% In‑Classroom Learning: Employees must be physically present in the office to perform job functions.
  • Pre‑Employment: Must pass a pre‑employment physical and a CBI/FBI federal background check.
  • Calendar: School year is Aug – May;
    Extended School Year (ESY) June – Aug. 176 student contact days.

What We’re Looking For
  • Brains: Current Colorado Teaching Certification with Special Education Generalist and Elementary Education endorsement, or eligibility for an Alternative Licensure program or Special Education Temporary Authorization (SETA).
  • Skillset: One year experience with children with developmental disabilities or emotional/behavioral disorders preferred; two years of teacher experience preferred; knowledge of Applied Behavioral Analysis.
  • Super Star Communicator: Excellent communication skills and flexibility.
  • Mindset: Desire to mentor and teach Laradon team members, subordinates and peers.
  • Safe on Wheels: Valid driving license, good driving record, and reliable personal transportation.
  • Super Strength: Physical ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force; capability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; stamina to be on feet and active for full workdays.
