- Works with students of diverse backgrounds and those who struggle with academic and motivation issues; provides explicit and systematic instruction to improve students’ specific skills, strategies, and concept development
- Assists in screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring assessments
- Assists in analyzing student data to determine student profile of needs and make instructional placement and instructional focus decisions
- Collaborates and consults with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other specialists with a problem‑solving approach to implement the most effective instructional plan for students
- Develops schedules and flexible groupings of homogeneous skills based on updated student performance data
- Monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students; reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy
- Observes, evaluates, and records student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health; prepares student, attendance, and activity reports as required by administrators
- Prepares lesson plans and materials according to curriculum guidelines, adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests; establishes and communicates to students clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects; and instructs students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods
- Prepares, administers, assigns, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required. A Master’s Degree is only required for Concurrent Enrollment positions.
- Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. for additional information regarding specific requirements and qualifications for the various subject areas (DPS does accept a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days.)
- Three (3+) plus years experience working in a public school setting
- Three (3+) plus years experience and record of success in increasing student achievement
- Three (3+) plus years experience or training in evidence‑based interventions
- Proficiency with Google products including docs, sheets, slides and gmail
- Ability to manage classroom and student behavior
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines
- The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance
- Ability to work effectively as member of multi‑disciplinary team
