The RMP Promise

Rocky Mountain Prep is a movement of educators, families, scholars, and advocates committed to changing public education in Colorado by democratizing college access for historically marginalized students and families. We operate twelve college-preparatory schools serving students from early childhood through twelfth grade, and we are fundamentally a world-class learning organization that invests deeply in every educator who joins us. Teachers engage in ongoing coaching and professional development, supported by clear expectations, transparent feedback, and opportunities to strengthen their craft and advance along individualized career pathways grounded in our PEAK values.

Rooted in a culture of rigor and love, RMP promises to coach, develop, and champion every team member so they can do their best work and grow as professionals, people, and leaders.

Our Approach to Mild/Moderate Special Education

At Rocky Mountain Prep, we believe inclusive education is foundational to equity and academic excellence. Our Mild/Moderate Special Education services ensure scholars with disabilities receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), with access to rigorous, grade-level instruction alongside their peers. Through a blend of push-in co-teaching and targeted small-group pull-out instruction, teachers deliver individualized, data-driven supports aligned to each scholar’s IEP.

Our approach emphasizes academic interventions, functional and adaptive skill development, and consistent progress monitoring. Mild/Moderate Special Education teachers work closely with general educators, service providers, and families to implement accommodations, modifications, and behavior supports that promote academic growth, social-emotional development, and independence—all grounded in culturally responsive practices and authentic family partnerships.

Mild/Moderate Special Education Teachers at Rocky Mountain Prep will...
  • Develop, implement, and manage IEPs in compliance with IDEA timelines and requirements.
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and create, monitor, and adjust Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Ensure accurate and consistent progress monitoring and maintain all required documentation.
  • Deliver individualized instruction through push-in co-teaching in classes of 28 to 32 students and pull-out small groups typically ranging from 6 to 8 students, adjusting based on need.
  • Implement research-based intervention programs such as Lexia Core5, RAP 95, PLL, and Zearn.
  • Align specialized instruction with general education curricula including Bridges and Amplify.
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers and support staff to ensure accommodations, modifications, and behavior supports are implemented with fidelity.
  • Coach and support paraprofessionals in providing academic, behavioral, and adaptive interventions.
  • Build strong, culturally responsive relationships with scholars and families that center inclusion, communication, and shared ownership of growth.

All Teachers at Rocky Mountain Prep will:

Take ownership of student outcomes by setting high expectations, using data to guide instruction, and ensuring all scholars grow through strong planning, rigorous teaching, and timely re-teaching. They build inclusive, relationship-centered classrooms by implementing proactive routines, culturally responsive practices, and consistent communication with families. RMP teachers collaborate closely with colleagues and support staff, contribute to school-wide initiatives, and support daily operations to maintain a safe and organized environment.

They also model RMP’s PEAK values in all interactions and remain flexible and responsive in a fast-paced, data-driven environment aligned to our evolving Concept Essence.
