Position: Spanish Teacher, Grades 1-12 (2026-2027)

The Denver Waldorf School (DWS) seeks a qualified candidate to join our faculty as a 1-12 Grades Spanish Teacher to begin in the 2026-27 school year. This position includes teaching elementary and high school Spanish classes, developing a cohesive and developmentally appropriate language program across grade levels.

The ideal candidate brings both a love of language and culture and the ability to meet students at varying developmental stages—from playful, immersive elementary instruction to rigorous, leveled high school coursework.

Knowledge of Waldorf educational philosophy is preferred.

Essential Functions

The essential responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Teach a full-time Spanish course load across Grades 1–12 in alignment with the most recent TDWS scope and sequence as documented with ACIS and AWSNA.
  • Develop and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans, assignments, assessments, syllabi, and related materials.
  • Foster a love of Spanish language and Latin cultures through immersive and experiential methods including songs, poetry, storytelling, games, literature, conversation, and authentic language use.
  • Provide written curriculum documentation as requested for ACIS and AWSNA standards.
  • Provide grades and narrative assessments for each class within one week of block end (high school) and report on student progress as appropriate in elementary grades.
  • Support diverse learning styles and maintain effective classroom management across all age groups.
  • Provide general supervision of students during and outside of class time.
  • Communicate in a timely and professional manner with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate weekly with Student Support to address and support student academic needs.
  • Attend weekly all-school faculty meetings (Thursdays after school).
  • Attend weekly High School Faculty and Special Subject Faculty meetings as appropriate.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences (fall and spring) and attend parent meetings when requested.
  • Participate in all-school events and activities.
  • Maintain classroom and workspace to ensure a healthy, organized, and inspiring learning environment.
Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Waldorf Teacher Training strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Spanish at the elementary and/or secondary level in classroom settings.
  • Proficiency in designing effective, engaging lessons and managing students across developmental stages.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and authentic language immersion.

Working Hours

The work schedule requires the employee to be at the school each day for the time necessary to accomplish instruction and responsibilities assigned thoroughly. At a minimum, full-time class teacher faculty are expected to be available to the school Monday through Friday for the entire day, beginning at 8:00 am, including dismissal monitoring, after-school student support, and after-school meetings.
