About the KIPP Colorado Teacher Role:
The Teacher is the instructional leader of their classroom and is responsible for driving student outcomes and creating an exceptional student experience. The Teacher will plan instruction, organize learning activities, and implement with fidelity all accommodations and modifications for students’ IEPs, BIP’s, 504 Plans, ALPs, and MTSS interventions. The position is a 10-month academic role and is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

This role reports to a member of the school leadership team.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Believe deeply in the mission, values, and RIDE commitments of KIPP Colorado Schools and that all children can learn.
  • Assume personal responsibility for student achievement.
  • Read, internalize, and adhere to KIPP Colorado Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide active presence, strategic supervision, and monitoring to ensure student safety and engagement in rigorous learning.
  • Engage in coaching and professional development; meet with a manager 1–2 times every 1–2 weeks, implement feedback, and pursue ongoing growth.
  • Be prepared for lessons, coaching, meetings, PD, and communications.
  • Meet professional obligations including deadlines and schedules.
  • Leverage professional tools (Google and Microsoft suites) effectively.
  • Maintain strong attendance and punctuality.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and seek feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Reflect on practice to meet professional development goals.
  • Participate in PD, grade level, and department meetings; contribute to school-wide and org-wide initiatives.
  • Serve as a positive, contributing member of teams; share candid, solution-oriented feedback.
  • Assist with recruitment and engagement activities; travel to other campuses as needed.
  • Perform duties as assigned (lunch, arrival/dismissal, hallway, etc.).
  • Instructional Planning and Delivery
  • Develop standards-based instructional plans (unit plans, scope and sequences, weekly plans, daily lessons).
  • Plan rigorous lessons aligned with deadlines; internalize lessons for high-quality instruction.
  • Design and implement assessments aligned with objectives.
  • Grade student work and provide feedback and support.
  • Use high-quality materials with fidelity; use data to reteach and reassess.
  • Use data to drive instruction and monitor progress toward goals.
  • Implement IEPs, 504 Plans, ALPs, BIPs, and MTSS interventions with fidelity, including accommodations and progress monitoring.
  • School Culture Alignment
  • Establish and maintain relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
  • Maximize instructional time with urgency; uphold high expectations for academics and behavior.
  • Establish and reinforce classroom rules and positive behavior systems.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide presence and supervision to ensure safety and engagement in rigorous learning.
  • Complete specialized certifications as required (e.g., MLE coursework, CDE literacy modules, ECE licensure, ESSA status).
