The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) is one of the largest non‑profit theatre organizations in the nation, presenting Broadway tours and producing theatre, cabaret, musical, and innovative immersive experiences. - Summer Theatre Classroom Assistants are vital support staff for our summer programming, working with Lead Theatre Classroom Teaching Artists to deliver theatre‑based curriculum to students from Kindergarten to high school.
- The position requires responsibility, social maturity, and kindness, and aims to inspire the next generation of performing arts Teaching Artists through active and engaging responsibilities.
- Summer programming runs Monday–Friday from June 15 to July 31, 2026. The workday is 8:30 am–4 pm, with an all‑staff meeting from 7:45–8:30 am each Monday. Classroom Assistants balance their day between pre/post‑class duties and providing active support to classroom teachers and guest artists, working up to 36 hours per week.
- Applicants should not expect more than two weeks of employment.
- Support Lead Theatre Classroom Teaching Artists in delivering curriculum, classroom management, and creating a supportive, fun, positive learning environment.
- Participate fully in all theatre‑based classroom activities.
- Assist in identifying and leading theatre‑based warm‑up activities.
- Support full‑time staff and other Teaching Artists by staffing student drop‑off and pick‑up and monitoring lunch and free‑play time.
- Actively participate in all class activities/events and facilitate student engagement and success.
- Model professionalism, strong time‑management skills, and collaboration.
- Must be at least 16 years old and have completed Junior year of high school by the start of summer programming.
- Knowledge and experience in theatre is a plus.
- Improv knowledge and experience is a plus.
- Strong interest and experience in childcare is a plus.
- Strong interest and experience in working with young people is a plus.
- Availability Monday–Friday 8:30 am–4 pm for the weeks applied.
The employee is regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud in some classroom settings.
Compensation$19.29 per hour for approximately 36–38 hours per week during scheduled weeks.
