The Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Unit is looking for a detail-focused training professional to join their team! The P.O.S.T. Unit within the Criminal Justice section, along with the P.O.S.T. Board, are responsible for the statutory and rule requirements for the approval of basic training academies and ensuring that peace officer applicants trained in other states meet the standard of certification. The unit qualifies the training of all individuals seeking Colorado Peace Officer Certification and manages the continuing law enforcement education of Colorado peace officers.

The unit also maintains the training records and certification accomplishments of the Colorado peace officers recognized in Title 16, Article 2.5, part 1 of the Colorado Revised Statutes. In addition to training, the Unit receives and reviews peace officer training grant applications funded by the P.O.S.T. Peace Officer Training Project and provides grant award funds for continuing law enforcement educational programs for POST-certified Colorado peace officers.

The unit also investigates criminal and civil violations of P.O.S.T. statutes pursuant to § 24-31-307, C.R.S.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The IM Program Coordinator leads the statewide administration, instruction, and continuous improvement of the IM Program (IM Basic and IM Course Design). This role ensures program quality, instructor readiness, compliance with POST standards, and long-term sustainability through strong project management, curriculum oversight, and instructional leadership.

The Instructor Methodology (IM) Program is POST's statewide initiative to improve the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of law enforcement instruction across Colorado. The program trains and certifies law enforcement instructors in active learning theory, experiential and scenario-based instructional design, facilitation skills, and curriculum development practices. The IM Program consists of two core courses-IM Basic and IM Course Design-and includes a structured instructor and master trainer pipeline, certification processes, quality assurance mechanisms, and ongoing curriculum refinement to support long-term sustainability and statewide implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

* Oversee all IM Program operations, including scheduling, logistics, content management, instructor pipeline development, and compliance processes.

* Develop and manage workplans, timelines, and workflows to keep the IM Program on track and aligned with Board and Director requirements.

* Monitor instructor performance, identify capacity gaps, and implement quality assurance and corrective action strategies.

* Teach or co-facilitate courses as needed and provide technical assistance to academies statewide.

* Review and refine curriculum in collaboration with SMEs and leadership to ensure alignment with adult learning best practices and law enforcement training standards.

Salary note:
Although a salary range is listed, salary will be set commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.

This recruitment may be used to fill multiple positions in the Department of Law.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications:

Six years of professional experience managing adult-focused learning programs, such as at a POST approved academy, a law enforcement in-service training program, an academic program at a college or university, or other similar programs. Experience must include creating or developing AND assessing content.
