Led by the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education (CAEE), the Environmental Education Corps (ee Corps) Ameri Corps Program places Ameri Corps members at organizations throughout Colorado to focus on increasing environmental literacy for PreK-12 students and implementing the goals outlined in the Colorado Environmental Education Plan. This position will be located at Colorado State University (CSU) Spur in Denver, CO. CSU Spur integrates education, public outreach, and research/scholarship, providing lifelong experiential learning, expanding educational access, connecting with industry and community, and launching careers that grapple with the biggest challenges of our time.

CSU Spur focuses on the topics of food, water, and health across a three building campus in the Globeville Elyria-Swansea neighborhoods in Denver. The individual in this role will support the delivery, development, and creation of programming across our three CSU Spur campus buildings-Vida, Terra, and Hydro. The individual will support educational programming across the CSU Spur campus and will have a focus on creating innovative programming around environmental education utilizing outdoor spaces on site.

Duties
  • Gain knowledge and experience in science education through intentional training throughout the service term
  • Become an effective education facilitator
  • Deliver educational programming for PreK-12th grade formal school and multigenerational audiences at CSU Spur
  • Develop, deliver, train, and evaluate STEM programming with an emphasis on environmental education
  • Collaborate with other on-site Ameri Corps member to take ownership over water-based projects such as activating the teaching lab for 2nd Saturdays, caring for the rainbow trout and other live organisms, stream table programming, etc.
  • Track progress and collect evaluation data for the program’s performance measures
  • Attend all required ee Corps/Ameri Corps orientations, meetings, and trainings
  • Complete and submit all necessary ee Corps paperwork and reports by predetermined deadlines
  • Some local travel required and occasional statewide travel possible
