Position Summary
The Department of Music at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part‑time affiliate faculty teaching positions in music education. All teaching will be conducted in person at the Auraria Campus, with student teaching supervision occurring at schools throughout the Denver Metro Area.
Responsibilities- Teach 2–9 credit hours in music education, one course per semester and supervise student teachers in both elementary and secondary placements.
- Direct ensembles such as MUS 3824 Secondary Instrument Band (Concert) and Beginning Modern Band, and teach courses such as MUS 3390 Inclusive Music Classroom.
- Oversee student teaching courses MUS 4971 Student Teaching–Elementary and MUS 4972 Student Teaching–Secondary.
- Deliver course content in person or online, prepare lesson plans, grade student work, provide timely feedback, address student questions, and comply with university, college/school, and department policies.
- Provide academic support to students as needed and adapt to new modes of instruction; remain sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
- Master’s degree in music education or a closely related field.
- At least 5 years of teaching experience in public school music programs.
- Ph.D. in Music Education or a closely related field.
- Supervisory teaching experience.
Affiliate faculty are part‑time, at‑will employees hired on a per‑credit‑hour basis for specific classes, typically on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program, and all teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment.
Salary for AnnouncementThe salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate of $1,264–$1,482 per credit hour.
