POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide a range of services for students who demonstrate difficulties with learning, academic achievement, social/emotional functioning and behavior. Serve as a mental health service provider involved in proactive, preventative activities, as well as responding to identified concerns. Provide serviced based on a combination of problem solving, consultative and direct service models.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Participating in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
* Conducting social-emotional assessments and contributing to IEP and 504plans.
* Develop individual, group or system level interventions which improve identified problems or concerns, including academic, social/ emotional/ behavioral/ mental health needs as they relate to educational progress.
* Uses research-based and technically sound practices to drive decision-making and interventions; and collaborates with school personnel and parents in order to develop and modify student intervention strategies.
* Facilitates functional assessment of behavior (FBA) and designs/implements Behavior Intervention Plans as well as progress monitors intervention plans.
* Conducts, interprets and implements student assessments which includes record review, interview, observation and standardized assessment.
* Administers and interprets norm-referenced and curriculum based assessment measures.
* Participates in team-based follow up activities to review student progress, analyze data and modify individual interventions.
* Reviews school wide assessment data to assist building staff(s) in interpreting and designing school wide interventions.
* Serve as liaison among district building(s), families and community and collaborates with various teams to assure positive outcomes for all learners.
* Participate in interdisciplinary staffing meetings to determine the eligibility, appropriate planning and reevaluation for students who require special education service/programs.
* Comply with Exceptional Student services and district policies and procedures (i.e. Medicaid billing, accident reporting).
* Conduct suicide and threat assessments and develop/implement appropriate crisis intervention and safety plans.
* Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Required
* Master's Degree or Higher in Social Work
Preferred
* Previous social work in an School/Alternative Education Campus setting of a similar demographic
Licenses or Certification:
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL TEACHING AND SPECIAL SERVICES POSITIONS:
* Must hold a Colorado Alternative, Provisional, or Professional Social Worker License with appropriate endorsements.
* Completed a state approved Social Worker Preparation Program or participation in an Alternative License program.
* Demonstrates subject matter competency by one of the following means:
* Hold an endorsement in the subject area Special Service Provider through The Colorado Department of Education
* Pass the appropriate subject area PLACE or PRAXIS exam in Colorado or in a CDE approved state
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:
* Demonstrated knowledge and skill regarding the components of effective instruction.
* Demonstrated knowledge of content and teaching methods in area(s) of counseling assignment.
* Demonstrated knowledge of developmental needs of students.
* Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.
* Evidence of ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative relationships with school personnel, students and parents.
* Demonstrated understanding and empathy necessary for working with students.
ESSENTIAL
