• Organizes parent involvement activities, workshops and classes utilizing best practices and providing information and resources to parents in an appropriate and timely manner
• Works with school leadership to manage relationship between school and parent community; provides training and support to school staff on parent engagement strategies
• Coordinates existing programs for parents and assists them to develop academic home learning strategies for their children; researches and promotes best practices in parent engagement; and recruits and supports parents as active volunteers in the school
• Develops parent involvement plans/policies and parent-school compacts in accordance with best practices and the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act
• Organizes, coordinates and supervises before and after school programs
• Researches and develops school/home links; develops written support tools, including Parent Guides; and assesses parent outreach efforts on an ongoing basis to ensure continuous improvement in the school's effort to foster strong relationships
• Makes home visits and monitors student attendance issues
• Convenes regular parent meetings and events around topics of key concerns to parents and attends parent-oriented school events (e.g., back-to-school night) that foster relationships with families
• Identifies/responds to day-to-day parent concerns related to school and school community and works with school principals to resolve parent issues in a timely manner; attends parent meetings with principal as appropriate; and serves as a mediator where concerns cannot be resolved between parents and principals directly
• Eases the integration into school for families who are new to the community (e.g., assists with student enrollment issues)

• Associate's Degree or two years of college
• Bachelor's Degree - Preferred
• Three (3+) years of experience in community development and family advocacy
• Bilingual skills in Spanish - Preferred
• Knowledge of school-based programs that support areas such as students, families, parents, community and homeless interests in an urban, K-12 school environment
• Demonstrated effective and diplomatic verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on communications with students, parents, collaborative decision making teams and the community
• Works collaboratively with others on a team
• Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with district and school leaders, faculty, staff and students
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability recognizing and resolving conflicts or potentially controversial situations through diplomacy
• Effectively handles multiple demands and competing deadlines
• High degree of integrity in handling confidential information
• Proficiency with Google Workspace
• Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
• Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
