Position Summary
Part‑time affiliate faculty positions in the Department of History at Metropolitan State University of Denver enable faculty to teach courses across a broad range of content. Positions are temporary, require ability to teach both in‑person and online, and are paid per credit hour on a semester‑by‑semester basis.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned classes in person or online, delivering course content and preparing lesson plans.
- Grading and providing timely, robust feedback to students.
- Address student questions in accordance with university, college, and department policies.
- Provide online or in‑person academic support as appropriate to the teaching assignment.
- Deliver instruction in line with the regular course syllabus and department coordination policies.
- Comply with university‑wide student evaluation of instruction and peer observation policies.
- Adapt and learn new modes of instruction, demonstrating sensitivity to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
Master’s degree in history or a closely related field.
Preferred QualificationsDoctorate in history or related field; teaching experience.
Terms of EmploymentAffiliate faculty are part‑time, at‑will employees hired on a per credit hour basis. They are not eligible for university benefit coverage. Assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment. Faculty are expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire.
Salary and Pay RatesSalary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate determined by university policy. Rate per credit hour assignment: $1,264 – $1,482.
