Lead teachers work with an associate teacher and other educators to provide a Logan educational experience. Responsibilities include developing an individualized curriculum for each student and collaborating with the Environmental Education teachers to lead one overnight trip in the spring (primary classes) and two overnight trips for the 3rd-8th classrooms in the fall and spring.
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in education and will be an experienced classroom teacher. Candidates should be familiar with the needs of gifted students and have a strong understanding of child-centered education and the value of hands‑on learning activities.
Required Professional SkillsCollaborate to maintain a classroom consistent with Logan’s philosophy.
Plan and oversee individual student unit curriculum, including coordinating individual student unit enrichment opportunities with unit trip teachers and other support staff
Plan and implement a multi-disciplinary class unit and other activities that provide students the opportunity to work together and integrate subject matter deeply
Provide opportunities for exploration, critical thinking, and problem‑solving across the curriculum
Monitor the academic progress of students and communicate with parents about their growth
Provide opportunities for student choice
Guide students in the areas of emotional and social growth, and collaborate with the school counselor when needed
Lead day‑long and extended (overnight) field trips with the students, in partnership with the EE Teacher
Communicate with other teachers and the student support team regarding student needs
Participate in staff meetings and other community events
Supervise and support a full‑time associate teacher
Perform miscellaneous other duties as assigned by the Head of School
Experience, Skills & Abilities4-year college degree and/or advanced degree.
3+ years teaching experience
Experience and/or understanding of gifted education
Lifelong learner, flexible thinker
Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
Computer literacy and comfort using Google Suites
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Valid driver’s license
Willingness and ability to go on overnight field trips with students
StatusThis is a full‑time (10‑month) in‑person position during the school year. Salary is paid over 12 months, August‑July. This position receives full benefits.
HoursThe Logan School workday is 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Attendance is required at all‑staff meetings until 5:00 pm at least once weekly and at other school‑wide events. There will be occasional evening and weekend commitments which are required attendance.
Teachers are expected to:Participate thoughtfully and positively in all meetings and school‑wide events
Consider various perspectives when engaging in internal and external communications
Work with the Admin team to share and solve problems
Attend pre-service and other professional days and school‑wide events
Attend and complete mandatory training, such as those for child safety, first‑aid, etc.
Attend all‑staff meetings and the staff retreat
CompensationThe salary range for this position is $55,000 - $85,000, depending on experience, for a 10‑month work period. This will be prorated over 12 months for the 2026‑27 school year based on the start date.
