Position: School Social Worker (State Teacher II) - Campus at Mount View Youth Services Center

Job Summary

Supports all facets of the educational system for students, school personnel, and stakeholders. Provides expertise in school systems, educational law, curriculum and instruction, classroom and behavior management, special education, consultation, behavior management, mental health, and transition practices. Works to foster a safe school environment and address mental health and social challenges that impact student learning.

Responsibilities
  • School-Based Multi‑Tiered and Behavioral Systems Support
    • Social/Emotional assessments.
    • Planning and collaboration with teachers regarding services and interventions.
    • Utilizing the consultation model of services.
    • Developing systems and data‑tracking mechanisms for mental‑health and behavioral progress monitoring.
    • Planning and implementing psycho‑educational groups.
    • Designing and implementing school‑based programs to promote a positive climate.
    • Using social‑work training to remedy learning barriers.
    • Developing behavioral intervention strategies.
    • Leading and training restorative justice circles.
    • Conflict resolution and anger management facilitation.
    • Facilitating functional behavioral analysis and behavior intervention plans.
    • Supporting MTSS systems.
    • Participating in appropriate MDTs.
  • Culture and Collaboration
    • Collaborate with Facility‑Based Education Staff, Behavioral Mental Health Partners, Assessment Specialists, Client Managers.
    • Consult with education and BHS regarding research‑based interventions for students with mental‑health/behavioral concerns.
    • Develop relationships with facility transition workers and assist with education transitions for youth.
  • 504 Site Coordinator & Special Education Assessment and Supports
    • Participate in and help with scheduled team meetings.
    • Consult with team members on assessment determinations and related services.
    • Prepare social‑developmental histories.
    • Participate in Manifestation Determination, Crisis Response Team, and Best Interest Determination meetings.
    • Provide services on IEPs and assist in co‑teaching classes.
  • Training, Communication, and Other Duties
    • Maintain direct communication with supervisor.
    • Identify and report program strengths and limitations.
    • Participate in program development activities.
    • Train stakeholders on school social‑work topics.
    • Provide interdisciplinary team problem‑solving, intervention plan development, school improvement planning, prevention services, affective education classes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in school or related youth setting.
  • Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Service Provider license:
    School Social Worker, School Psychologist, or School Counselor (or allowable substitution).
Preferred Qualifications
  • School social worker experience of 2+ years.
  • Experience working with at‑risk youth.
  • Experience with 504 plans.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Experience collaborating across complex systems.
  • Understanding of trauma‑responsive/restorative environments.
  • State service experience.
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Relevant licensure.
Highly Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Colorado Academic Standards for K‑12.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong decision‑making and follow‑through.
  • Professional interaction with administrators, staff, parents, clients, community members, judiciary.
  • Excellent oral communication.
  • Collaborative problem‑solving and constructive feedback.
  • Willingness to think creatively.
  • Flexible and creative problem‑solving.
Conditions of Employment
  • Minimum 21 years of age, no felony convictions or history of domestic violence.
  • Background and reference checks.
  • State of Colorado residency at time of application and throughout employment.
  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
  • Valid, non‑restricted Colorado driver’s license.
  • Travel to training events in Denver and other facilities.
  • Completion of DYS Pre‑service Training Academy, Field Training Program, and mandatory annual training.
