Assists to plan and implement the child care program. Assists in supervising staff. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele. Assists to prepare and implement quality programming.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. They do not encompass a comprehensive inventory of the obligations and responsibilities fulfilled in this role. The approximation of frequencies and time allocation percentages are flexible and subject to the requirements of the organization. - 1. Follows and enforces all Colorado Department of Early Childhood licensing requirements. (10%)
- 2. Assists to create and implement quality lesson plans for every day the program is in operation. (10%)
- 3. Assists to plan and facilitate small and large group activities that are developmentally appropriate. Provide a safe, nurturing, environment conducive to the growth and development of each student with readily accessible, age appropriate materials. (10%)
- 4. Works directly and actively supervises and engages with students during times they are present in the program. (10%)
- 5. Assists to oversee the day-to-day operation of the program such as preparing materials and toys, student discipline, addressing parent complaints, daily attendance, proper food handling and sanitation practices, tending to student’s personal needs, etc. (10%)
- 6. Regularly scheduled to open and close the program before and after school. (5%)
- 7. Assists the program director with supervision of program staff. (5%)
- 7. Assists to plan and attend monthly director meetings and principal meetings as requested. (5%)
- 8. Creates and implements activities and field trips for full day programming. (5%)
- 9. Promotes and markets the program for before and after care and full days. (5%)
- 10. Assists program director to conduct monthly staff meetings with program staff. (5%)
- 11. Exhibits excellent communication with parents, students, school staff, district staff and co-workers. (5%)
- 12. Attend and participate in professional development trainings as required by licensing and district. (5%)
- 13. Assist to maintain up-do-date staff files to meet licensing requirements. (5%)
- 13. Perform other duties as assigned or requested. (5%)
This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire
- The Before & After School Assistant Director must be age 21 or over
- To qualify for the position, the Assistant Director must have completed at least one of the following:
- a. A four-year college degree with such majors as recreation, outdoor education, education with a specialty in art, elementary or early childhood education, or a subject in the human services field
- b. An associate degree or sixty (60) semester credit hours from an accredited college or university and three (3) months (455 hours) of experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children over the ages of four (4) years who are not related to the individual
- c. Twenty-one (21) months (3,185 hours) of experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children over the ages of four (4) years who are not related to the individual and one of the following qualifications:
- (1) Completion of six (6) semester hours, from a regionally accredited college or university; or
- (2) Completion of forty (40) clock hours of training in course work applicable to school-age children within the first nine months in the director position. The 40 clock hours of training cannot include any of the required trainings as listed in rule section 2.508
