Lead Attendance Specialist
Job DescriptionThis is a grant funded position through June 30, 2029. The EARSS Attendance Continuation Grant is a three (3) year grant ) that supports schools in building capacity for the implementation of the revised DPS School Attendance System Model.
Leads the implementation and oversight of district attendance initiatives in alignment with district attendance systems, processes, and expectations. Oversees progress monitoring, supervises the team of Attendance Specialists, and provides direct support to schools while serving as the primary liaison with the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). Drives district wide efforts to improve student outcomes by identifying and supporting high need schools, conducting root cause analyses related to attendance, and partnering with school leaders to develop and monitor strategic attendance plans.
Supports the implementation of evidence based instructional and operational practices that strengthen attendance systems. Builds and maintains cross functional and external partnerships to ensure all attendance initiatives align with district strategic priorities and support schools in implementing the revised DPS School Attendance System Model.

- Leads the implementation and ongoing management of the EARSS Attendance Continuation Grant, including coordinating grant deliverables, monitoring progress toward goals, and managing the selection and support of participating schools
- Supervises and supports the Attendance team through regular coaching, performance management, professional development, and alignment of attendance intervention practices across schools
- Coordinates cross functional collaboration between schools receiving attendance support services and district departments, including the District Attendance Team, to ensure aligned implementation and integrated student support systems
- Leads the analysis and monitoring of grant related data, including process, implementation, and student outcome metrics, to evaluate program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement efforts
- Conducts root cause analyses related to attendance, engagement, and academic outcomes to identify barriers and develop targeted improvement strategies for schools
- Provides direct consultation and support to a caseload of schools in implementing the revised DPS School Attendance System Model, including evidence based attendance practices and intervention strategies
- Develops and maintains tools, systems, and progress monitoring structures to track implementation fidelity, grant outcomes, and school level attendance improvement efforts
- Builds and sustains partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), to support grant compliance, resource alignment, and long term attendance improvement initiatives
- Facilitates professional learning, technical assistance, and capacity building opportunities for school leaders and staff related to attendance systems, student engagement, and equitable practices
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's or relevant work experience in School Leadership and Supervision, Community Engagement, Attendance Systems, or School Improvement
- Principal, SSP or Teaching License preferred
- Two plus (2+) years experience leading school wide systems, preferably attendance systems and/or MTSS
- Two plus (2+) years experience working with school based teams or leading professional development programs with schools
- Experience with change management processes and community engagement preferred
- Experience in supervising and coaching direct reports preferred
