About the Role
The KIPP Colorado Teacher is the instructional leader of their classroom and is directly responsible for driving student outcomes and creating an exceptional student experience. Teachers develop rigorous, engaging, affirming, culturally sustaining instruction that prepares students for multiple post‑secondary opportunities and aligns with the academic program. The teacher plans instruction, organizes learning activities, internalizes lessons, grades equitably, and implements accommodations for students’ IEPs, 504 plans, and MTSS interventions.
The teacher cultivates a culturally responsive classroom community, manages tier 1 behaviors, and proactively communicates with families. Teachers support campus‑wide operations through daily duties such as arrival, dismissal, lunch, hallway, and restroom oversight. This is a 10‑month academic, exempt position reporting to a member of the school leadership team.

- Develop standards‑based instructional plans, including unit plans, scope and sequences, and daily lesson plans.
- Plan rigorous lessons aligned with school‑wide deadlines and engage in lesson internalization practices.
- Design and implement assessments aligned with daily objectives.
- Grade student material and provide feedback and support.
- Use adopted high‑quality instructional materials with fidelity and data‑driven cycles of reteach and reassessment.
- Use data to drive instruction and adjust plans to meet student learning needs.
- Implement all students’ IEPs, 504 plans, ALPs, BIPs, and MTSS‑aligned interventions with consistency, accommodations, modifications, and progress monitoring.
- Establish and maintain relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
- Approach practice with a sense of urgency to maximize instructional time.
- Establish and maintain high expectations for academic work and classroom behavior.
- Establish and reinforce rules and consequences to maintain a positive, focused classroom.
- Provide strategic supervision and intentional monitoring to ensure student safety and engagement.
- Complete all specialized certification requirements for compliance (MLE coursework, CDE literacy modules, ECE licensure, ESSA status).
- Partner with the Assistant Principal of Special Services and Special Education Teachers for implementation of 504s, BIPs, IEPs, safety plans, accommodations, modifications, and language support.
- Enforce positive behavior systems and monitor behavior data.
