Role Mission
We seek a dedicated science teacher to provide rigorous instruction to our students. The ideal candidate will create an engaging, supportive learning environment that promotes students asking questions and defining problems, planning and carrying out investigations, analyzing and interpreting data, using mathematical and computational thinking, constructing explanations and designing solutions, engaging in argument from evidence, and obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information as described in Next Generation Science Standards.
The science teacher will be an integral part of our educational team, working collaboratively to ensure academic success through the implementation of the RMP Science Academic Program & Resources. This position teaches 6th‑grade science using the Amplify curriculum and has a section of Reading Academy.
- Own student outcomes by setting high expectations, using data to guide teaching, maximizing instructional time, re‑teaching when needed, and promoting scholar growth and proficiency.
- Take ownership of professional growth by actively engaging in coaching, being open to feedback, and committing to continuous improvement.
- Be consistently punctual and prepared for all lessons, coaching sessions, staff meetings, and other professional obligations.
- Build a strong, inclusive classroom culture with proactive routines, culturally responsive structures, and restorative practices that promote belonging.
- Foster strong relationships with families through consistent communication, home visits, and engagement in school events, embracing diverse perspectives.
- Model and embody RMP’s PEAK values (Perseverance, Excellence, Adventure, Kindness) in all interactions.
- Collaborate with colleagues, special education teachers, and support staff to deliver grade‑level content and targeted interventions for all students.
- Participate in and contribute to school‑wide initiatives, professional development, and recruitment efforts.
- Support school operations by assisting with daily tasks, including arrival, dismissal, lunch, ensuring a smooth environment.
- Consistently use the Intellectual Preparation Protocol to internalize curricular materials at the unit and daily lesson level.
- Collaborate with an instructional coach to improve lesson plans and facilitation based on regular, frequent feedback.
- Be a continuous learner of strong science pedagogy and research.
- Challenge students with curricular tasks that encourage scientific thinking and allow them to lead in learning.
- Align lessons to Next Generation Science Standards and implement practices that promote understanding of grade‑level content.
- Manage lab materials and work within CDE Science Safety Regulations for storage and use in class.
- Implement network intervention strategies based on student data that support students with unfinished learning.
- Adapt to a fast‑paced, data‑driven environment while maintaining clear expectations.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree (any subject).
- Within the first year of employment, complete CDE READ Act training or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) – 45 contact hours.
- Pass a background check.
- Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.
- Possess preferred certifications (see details on application).

Salary:
Full‑time position with a range of $63,000 to $89,000, based on experience and qualifications.
