Job Description

This posting establishes a pool of candidates who can teach one studio or technical seminar per semester in Landscape Architecture on an as‑needed basis. The temporary Lecturer pool will remain continuously active through August 2026; after that all applications will be cleared from the pool. Single‑course appointments will be made semester‑by‑semester as teaching needs arise.

Responsibilities

Lecturers selected from this pool will teach in the College’s graduate program. Classes may range from three to six credit hours and may include lectures, seminars, and studios in all teaching modes (in‑person, hybrid, online, remote).

Minimum Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field, or a terminal degree and expertise in the course content.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience, a record of professional practice in landscape architecture, and a professional degree in a related field.
  • Applicants for courses addressing specific subjects must have an advanced degree or proven expertise in the topic.
  • Substantive knowledge of the landscape architecture field and/or the subject matter that will be taught. Multidisciplinary education and expertise are strongly encouraged.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff in a collegial academic environment.

Conditions of Employment

May involve in‑person or hybrid work. Working from the office is encouraged for tasks that require collaboration.

Mental, Physical, & Environmental Requirements
  • The position may be performed on site. Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work; minimal lifting, but may involve bending or reaching to retrieve items from shelves or drawers.
  • Position may be performed in a hybrid or remote environment. Requires maintaining a dedicated workspace free of excessive noise or distractions, reliable internet connectivity, and the ability to participate in virtual meetings for extended periods. Employees must manage time independently, remain stationary for prolonged computer‑based work, and transport necessary equipment between remote location and office as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
  • $5,860 for a 3‑credit hour course.
  • $8,680 for a 6‑credit hour course.

The salary of the selected candidate will be based on internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. The above salary represents the University’s good‑faith estimate. This part‑time appointment is not eligible for overtime, group health, life insurance, or retirement benefits.
