Position Summary

Instructors will teach one to three classes per semester. The Department of Philosophy seeks qualified educators to teach courses in Religious Studies, including RLG 1040 – Asian Religions, RLG 1050 – Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and RLG 1090 – Religion, Justice, and Liberation Movements. Classes may be taught in‑person, online, or hybrid.

Responsibilities
  • Teach 3–9 credit hours in Religious Studies, delivering course content to students.
  • Prepare course materials and lesson plans that align with the syllabus and learning objectives.
  • Grade student work and provide timely, robust feedback.
  • Address student questions in accordance with university, college, and department policies.
  • Provide academic support to students as needed.
  • Adhere to university-wide student evaluation of instruction and peer observation policies.
  • Adapt to new modalities of instruction and accommodate diverse learning needs.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Master’s degree in Religious Studies or a closely related field.
  • Preferred:
    Ph.D. in Religious Studies or a closely related field.
  • Teaching experience in higher education, preferably in Religious Studies.
Terms of Employment

Affiliate faculty are part‑time, at‑will employees hired on a per credit‑hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program. All assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment.

Salary

Rate per credit hour assignment can range from $1,264 to $1,482, based on university policy.
